You can't hear it at higher speeds, but if you have the windows down (or for people next to the truck outside), it's embarrassingly loud. But downright embarrassing when accelerating before the turbos kick in, which is most of the time. But the most annoying rattling I still have is the damn wastegates, which is annoying as hell in the mornings.but I can say that I had a bad waste gate gasket on my 2012 f30 335i. The wastegate rattle can happen on the m235i. viking jim leaving wkbn 2015 Wastegate Rattle ?. I have the redesigned wastegate assembly and it is quiet. I'm not sure if they changed that on the new design. The rod and the actual actuator can be replaced but the wastegate assembly (the part that goes into the turbo and the gate itself) can't be replaced. Maybe they just need to adjust the wastegate actuator.
I would ask for a turbo change or some kind of fix if still under warranty. Wow that is pretty bad actually! I thought mine was bad on a cold start but this is much worse! Does yours go away when the engine is hot? Mine is there until the revs drop after a cold start.
